‘Rose’ is the title track of the upcoming debut album by Lian Ray, which will be released on the 22nd of November via Snowstar Records.
French singer-songwriter Lian Ray, who recently released his first single ‘Mateo’, announces his debut album. Together with the announcement the new single ‘Rose’ is released as well. The song is the centerpiece and title track of the debut album, that will be released on Snowstar Records on November 22, 2019. ‘Rose’ comes together with a lyric video, and is now available everywhere. The upcoming album can be pre-ordered in the Snowstar Records webshop.
Single ‘Rose’ crystalizes the whole concept behind the debut album, as a loose homage to the ultra-French sounding Melody Nelson by Serge Gainsbourg.
Lian had a short, destructive fling with the woman Rose while living in Berlin. Rose disappeared rather quickly, but left the broken songwriter a muse – one that took on mythological proportions. The song ‘Rose’ is an imaginary dialog between the muse and the writer, summarizing the album’s narrative. It’s also a eulogy to innocence, filled with regrets. This is where it all went south for Lian, with hints at the substance abuse (“your eyes are powder blue”) and destructive behavior that followed this short relationship. The muse certainly did her work, providing a dark, honest story of catastrophic love.
