Allysen Callery is self taught folk artist from Rhode Island, USA , her vocal delivery recalls the haunting style of the late 60′s early 70′s British Folk Revival.
In her own words, here’s the story behind the new song “November Man”, available for free download through her Soundcloud page: “I was driving home last November from a large folk convention, feeling very alone. I had left early, I am not great in crowds , and I didn’t feel that sense of community or kinship that everyone else seemed to be reveling in.
I got into my car, & turned on Nick Drake’s Family Tree .This was a new recording to me, and I immediately felt that musical kinship, so elusive for me in daily life.
Even while driving I dictated these words into my phone, and last Summer wrote the music.
I didn’t grow up listening to Nick Drake, the way I had with Fairport Convention, Steeleye Span & Incredible String Band, but his music speaks to my soul , & I wish we could’ve met“.
