Rachel Angel is a singer, poetess, and guitar rocker. After living in NYC and out west, Rachel Angel returns to Miami with her crisp and poetic brand of songwriting; rare and refreshing in the barren heat of South Florida.
Straddling the elusive line between folk and country, Angel’s songs take you through the muck of pain & disillusionment, the winding path of the heroes journey and ultimately to a place of self enlightenment.
Her new collection, Highway Songs takes the listener on a classic American road trip, with pits stops in Mexico and outer space. When Angel sings “I want to be a renegade,”she is speaking for anyone who has made the hard right choice, in favor of one that’s easier.
“Strapped” is taken from her upcoming EP “Highway Songs”, out via Public Works Records on August 21st 2020.
“Strapped” is about the harrowing experience of being human, in our bodies, heads, and in the world. It’s about feeling trapped in a situation and finally trusting yourself to act on the difficult decision to leave. Rachel wrote this song after the dissolution of a painful relationship which had caused a lot of back and forth. Through the healing power of music, she was able to confront hard truths and transcend loneliness into a newfound sense of self.
