“Prayer” is the new track in anticipation of “In The Unknown Twilight”, the first album by Bird Battles, out on digital/limited edition cassette, October 31st via Sleep In The Fire.
Written and performed by US based multidisciplinary artist Jesse Narens and Scottish composer Euan Alexander Millar-McMeeken (Glacis, Graveyard Tapes, Civic Hall), this debut project fuses the raw vulnerability of experimental pop with the spectral textures of ambient, avant-garde, and post-rock traditions.
Recorded across continents and shaped by the liminal moments of dusk and dream, “In The Unknown Twilight” is a deeply personal meditation on isolation, memory, and transformation. With Narens’ abstract sonic sensibilities and visual art background meeting Millar-McMeeken’s raw vocal and cinematic scope, Bird Battles conjures a world that is both fragile and ferocious — an echo from the edge of consciousness, where light begins to fracture and meaning dissolves.
Bird Battles invites listeners to step into a world where silence is just as vital as sound — and where the unknown becomes a space of creative revelation.
Drawing inspiration from minimalist techniques and alternative pop traditions, Bird Battles plays with themes of conflict and coexistence, symbolized through the metaphor of birds in flight. Each track acts as a battle between rhythm and melody, chaos and control, as the artist layers hypnotic loops, dissonant harmonies, and nuanced arrangements to push the boundaries of what pop music can be.
