“A Moment Of Clarity” is the first track out of “Now I Am On Fire”, the fourth album from The Workhouse and their second release on German record label Oscarson, out March 4th 2017.
Combining influences from early Factory records, The Chameleons and Interpol together with re-formed nineties shoegazers Ride and Slowdive, the band mix effects driven mayhem with warm psychedelia to create a mesmerising and bittersweet wall of sound.
Originally formed in Oxford and now based in London and Wales, The Workhouse were famously described as “the new priests of the cathedral of sound” by NME. They have released singles and albums on dozens of independent labels since 1999. They have recorded sessions for John Peel, BBC 6 music, XFM, Resonance FM and the Hungarian arm of the BBC World Service. In the live arena they have opened for Explosions in the Sky, Snow Patrol, Six by Seven and Doves. The band have built up a loyal underground following in the UK, Europe and the rest of the world.
The album was recorded at One Cat studios in South London by Jon Clayton and brings us songs of hope and despair in equal measure, blended with lyrical trips through life, death, hope and guitar pedals.
“A Moment Of Clarity” has just been premiered as the current “single of the week” of the radio show L’Attimo Fuggente.
