suggestioni musicali a cura di raffaello russo
The Swedish artist David Åhlén, who has been called the Arvo Pärt of indie pop, releases a new single with the track Morning Without Clouds taken from his most recent album Hidden Light (2016) – now with a new remake by Mit Tim. The single is produced, mixed and mastered by Manne von Ahn Öberg at White Chapel Studio, Jävrebyn. Drums played by Kenneth Berg.
David Åhlén creates a peculiar hybrid of indie and hymn, sung with an inimitable voice. David released his 7″ debut Wasted breaths in 2007 and he has since then released three critically acclaimed albums: We Sprout in Thy Soil (2009), Selah (2013) and Hidden Light (2016) and collaborated with artists and musicians such as Loney Dear, Timbre, Sofia Jernberg, Jonathan Johansson, Mariam Wallentin, Stefan Östersjö and Svante Henryson. David is also part of the electronic duo 1921.
Mit Tim is Tim Enberg, sound artist from Skellefteå, Sweden. Tim is currently composing music for the club performance LEV! based on lyrics by Sara Lidman and directed by Ellenor Lindgren.
Tim about the remake; ”I got hold of David’s voice tracks through the producer Manne von Ahn and loved the song! I added it to Ableton and started building the music around David’s voice. It was only after I had made basic chords around his voice that I listened to the original song. I simply like to play with voices on songs I never heard. Falsetto voices are fascinating – they create a completely different mood to the music.”
The David Åhlén single is the first release from a brand new label – Jivvär, based in Jävrebyn in the north of Sweden. Jivvär Records is run by a team led by the Studio and Label Manager Manne von Ahn Öberg. Manne is known for his former label Atrium (Warner) and for his work as producer and collaborations with artists such as Stina Nordenstam, Under Byen and Nicolai Dunger. The new label Jivvär will release music by artists with strong artistic integrity and deliver high quality products, sonically and artistically. A new EP with David Åhlén will be released in October, 2019.
