The first single from French for Rabbits new album “The Weight of Melted Snow”. Due out in New Zealand on 10th March 2017.
In the space between waking and sleeping we have our most vivid dreams – vaguely strung together threads of memories, inner weirdness, our fears and hopes. It is in this space where the music of ethereal dream-pop band French for Rabbits seems to sit.
The Wellington/Dunedin based quartet led by Brooke Singer and John Fitzgerald have steadily built a loyal fanbase around the world, early on with the DIY release of “Claimed by the Sea” – a six track EP accompanied by homemade videos, and handwritten letters to fans in the mail.
Their debut full length album “Spirits“, released on Portland label Lefse Records in 2014, saw the band tour through Europe extensively, opening for Danish chanteuse Agnes Obel at some of Europe’s finest music theatres, and playing at the likes of Iceland Airwaves festival. They garnered millions of plays on Spotify, after two of their songs featured on American television show The Vampire Diaries. Despite this, they have kept a relatively low profile in New Zealand, with only a handful of shows over the past year.
