British countryside dreamer together with Rob Glover in Epic45, Ben Holton also carries on his own solo project My Autumn Empire.
His debut album “The Village Compass” (2010) was a collection of gentle acoustic sketches, only now and then shaped as real songs. Instead, the thirty-minutes sophomore “II” adds to those romantic contemplations a bold dream-pop strain.
Its eight tracks dissolve an Hood-ian rural melancholy in soft echoes of distant psichedelia, while the endurance of quiet acoustic arpeggios now backs a sparkling melodic breeze, summing up the transition from Slowdive to Mojave3.
